SUNDAY VALENTINES CREAM TEA MILONGA (SUN FEB 11 2018) 16.15-19.30. Main Hall: Main Hall: 95% Traditional Tango in Tandas with two or 3 alternative tandas(dj Dance Inspired). + Cream Tea (homemade scones with clotted cream +jam, cakes, sandwiches)  £13 PAY ON DOOR

WORKSHOP 1 (SAT FEB 10: 16.45 - 18.00) CLOSE EMBRACE TANGO SALON  MULTIPLE LEVELS Minimum Level: Improver (at least 3-6 months regular tango) + Extra content for Intermediate & Advanced dancers. This workshop will improve your confidence, competence, and musicality when dancing in Close Embrace. A number of interesting patterns will be incorporated to demonstrate the fundamental and progressively advanced concepts. We will also explore how to use your embrace to continue ‘dancing during the pauses’. The workshop will also include sections where Guillermo & Alexandra will work separately with Leaders and Follows on technique and embellishments. All levels will benefit with more advanced dancers being offered additional material.  (1 leader, 1 follow, 1 couple space £22 PER PERSON PAY ON DOOR)

WORKSHOP 2 (SAT FEB 10: 18.15 – 19.30) SOPHISTICATED GIROS WITH ENROSQUES, PLANEOS AND EMBELISHMENTS  MINIMUM LEVEL: INTERMEDIATE & ADVANCED (at least 12-36 months regular tango dancing) This workshop focuses on beautiful Giros with fantastic technique and style. Guillermo & Alexandra will also add interesting variations (enrosques demystified for leaders, planeos & embellishments explored for follows). These interesting turns will help you to stylishly navigate and really stand out on the dancefloor. The emphasis will be on technique, accuracy and musicality. Lots of challenge and reward for Intermediate and Advanced Dancers. (1 leader, 1 follow, 1 couple space £22 PER PERSON PAY ON DOOR)

WORKSHOP 3 (SUN FEB 11: 11.30 - 12:45) INSPIRED BY STRICTLY –SHOWY, FUN SEQUENCE AND PATTERNS WITH ‘STRICTLY’ TANGO CHOREOGRAPHER MULTIPLE LEVELS Minimum Level: Improver (at least 3-6 months regular tango) + Extra content for Intermediate & Advanced dancers. Alexandra worked alongside Vincent Simone to help choreograph the 4 magical Argentine Tango pieces in the recent series. In this workshop with Guillermo she takes inspiration from ‘Strictly’. They will combine a little choreography that can be used in small sections as improvisation when social dancing in the Milonga. Loads of technique, musicality and fun moves including vivaditas, small jumps and double voleos, classic lifts(optional), calesitas and classic poses/lines and lunges for the slower parts end of dance. (1 leader, 1 follow, 1 couple space £22 PER PERSON PAY ON DOOR)

WORKSHOP 4 (SUN FEB 11: 13.30 – 14.45) TANGO RHYTHMICO WITH REBOTES, PATADAS AND ORGANIC GANCHOS MINIMUM LEVEL: INTERMEDIATE & ADVANCED (at least 12-36 months regular tango dancing) A really interesting workshop focusing on dancing to very popular and more rhythmic music of orchestras such as D’Arienzo, Canaro and Donato. Highlighting key musicality aspects and how to dance appropriate patterns stylishly and safely when space is tight and music is very rhythmic. Expand your repertoire and add excitement to your dancing. Among the patterns explored are rebotes, patadas and small organic ganchos. Lots of new material to challenge more experienced dancers. (1 leader, 1 couple space £22 PER PERSON PAY ON DOOR)

WORKSHOP 5 (SUN FEB 11: 15.00 – 16.15) VALS ELEGANCE, CADENAS AND SHARED AXIS  MULTIPLE LEVELS Minimum Level: Improver (at least 3-6 months regular tango) + Extra content for Intermediate & Advanced dancers. No Valentines event is complete without some gorgeous Vals. Alexandra & Guillermo have prepared a fantastic Vals class with specific content tailored to different levels of experience. This includes Vals musicality fundamentals, and a variety of patterns including some beautiful Cadenas (chained turns) and shared axis turns. Whether you are relatively new or an experienced Vals dancer, there will be plenty on offer to challenge and delight with Tango’s most gorgeous Rhythm.  (1 leader, 1 couple space £22 PER PERSON PAY ON DOOR)

Guillermo Torrens & Alexandra Wood 

Guillermo Torrens is Argentinean dancer & teacher with 16 years of experience in dancing and teaching. He studied with maestros in Argentina such as Orlando Paiva, Claudio Omar,  “Maestro de Maestros” Raul Bravo along with Angela Ruth Manonellas, Silvio Lavia and Mimi Santapa and Ballet taught by Liliana Belfiore. He has performed at places such as Teatro Colon, Confiteria Ideal, Cafe Tortoni and his performing career expands to many countries around the world. He has appeared on TV shows such as "This Morning" and the "Classic Brits Awards 2012" at the Royal Albert Hall.


Guillermo has won two LUKAS awards for 2 years in a row in the categories: "Tango Performers Of The Year" and "Tango Teachers Of The Year" (2011) and "Tango Performers Of The Year" and "Tango Teachers Of The Year" (2012). Guillermo was dancer at the Midnight Tango show  numerous cities in UK for the national tours for all 3 seasons (2011-2013). He also appears in the "Midnight Tango" DVD released in 2011.

Alexandra Wood (B.A. Hons Dance) is one of the world’s most in demand tango dancers. She has been principal for TangoBootCamp for over 7 years. She studied R.A.D classical ballet for 15 years and has also worked as a contemporary dancer as well as having a prolific career in the fitness industry. She teaches and performs all over Europe yet still remains incredibly grounded, approachable and one of tango’s nicest people. In 2002 she co-founded ‘Tango in Action’, the first Argentine tango school in London.  She left this school in 2011 to create her own Tango School. Alexandra studied tango mainly in Argentina, with the late  Andrea Misse, who she was honoured to worked with for 5 years. Alexandra is a regular performer at the most well known milongas in Buenos Aires including shows in the prestigious Sunderland Milonga Buenos Aires. She has danced alongside some of the most famous tango dancers, including Miguel Angel Zotto (Tango Por Dos), and Osvaldo Zotto

She has performed in many Stage Shows and was original lead dancer in Vincent and Flavia's Midnight Tango. She also appeared on Strictly, This Morning and Classical Brit Awards.
