EL FARABUTE
(perfroming 2 full sets at our Late Night Milonga)

El Farabute is a transatlantic tango duo formed by Argentinean pianist Pablo Citarella (Buenos Aires) and German/English violinist James (Munich/London).

Their repertoire includes contemporary interpretations of classic tangos, milongas and valses - always carrying a very personal note. The tango music of the duo is firmly rooted in the tradition of masters such as Aníbal Troilo, Osvaldo Pugliese, Carlos Di Sarli, Horacio Salgán and Astor Piazzolla. The duo’s approach to tango is playful and based upon improvisation, in the spirit of dancers and others who love this music.

They recently performed at the London 20 Years Tango celebration and received a long ovation from more than 350 dancers and teachers present. Last year they recorded a CD in Buenos Aires  which has received widespread acclaim most notably by foremost Tango music expert Michael Lavocah (milonga.co.uk)  who made it his cd of month. He wrote 'It's very seldom that we find some contemporary music that we would like to sell on the site, so I'm thrilled to offer the debut CD from the duo El farabute - Pablo Citarella and James Ogle. The guys played at a gig in Suffolk where I was DJ-ing and I was so excited that I went to London the following week to hear them again. Argentine pianist Pablo Citarella is an outstanding musican, but I wa even more thrilled to find in James Ogle a violinist who wasn't afraid to attack the strings and to experiment wth different effects, giving the tango violin the variation and especially that percussive edge it is so often lacking in modern playing. Exciting - thrilling even - contemporary. Just get one....... '

We are delighted to have El Farabute perform for us at our Milonga and know you will love dancing to them too.
